JNPA observes International Day of Yoga 2026 with theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”

MUMBAI : Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) – India’s largest container port, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with great enthusiasm at its premises, in pursuance of the directions issued by the Ministry of AYUSH and the communication received from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The celebration was organized around this year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

As part of the celebrations, JNPA organized a Guided Yoga Session led by an expert Yoga instructor, followed by a Deep Meditation Session conducted by representatives of Brahma Kumaris. The sessions witnessed active participation from Shri Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA; Shri Ravish Kumar Singh, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson, JNPA; CISF Commandant; CISF personnel; officers and employees of JNPA, who collectively embraced the spirit of wellness and mindfulness.

On the occasion, Shri Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA, said, “The International Day of Yoga” provides a unique opportunity for all of us to pause, reconnect with ourselves, and embrace practices that contribute to long-term health, happiness, and well-being. Yoga is a valuable gift of India’s ancient wisdom that continues to guide people across the world towards a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Yoga is a way of healthy life. We as one JNPA family celebrate this occasion with enthusiasm, commitment, and a shared resolve to adopt healthier lifestyles.”

To further amplify the message of wellness and encourage wider public participation, JNPA also conducted a dedicated Yoga Day social media campaign across its digital platforms, promoting the significance of Yoga and this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Through such initiatives, JNPA continues to foster a culture of physical fitness, mental well-being and work-life balance among its employees while contributing to the larger national movement of promoting Yoga as a way of life.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is one of the premier container-handling ports in India. Since its inception on May 26, 1989, JNPA has transformed from a bulk cargo terminal into the premier container port in the country.

Nestled across 277 hectares of land, JNPA also operates a meticulously designed multi-product SEZ, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, to boost export-oriented industries in India. JNPA is also developing an all-weather, deep-draft, greenfield port at Vadhvan, the 13th Major Port of India in Maharashtra. It is poised to be among the top 10 ports globally and will be a 100% green port since its inception.
