Maritime Excellence Achievers 2025 Awards celebrate innovation and sustainability in India’s Blue Economy
MUMBAI : The Maritime Excellence Achievers 2025 Awards celebrated outstanding contributions to India’s maritime and blue economy, honouring leading organisations and individuals who have demonstrated innovation, efficiency, and sustainability across diverse sectors — from shipbuilding and port management to green shipping and digital transformation.
The awards were presented during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, in the presence of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, senior government officials, and industry leaders. The event recognised excellence across categories such as Best Green Port, Maritime Innovator of the Year, Shipyard Excellence Award, Emerging Port Performer, Digital Transformation Leader, and Women in Maritime Leadership Award.
Among the winners, VOC Port Tuticorin was honoured as the Best Green Port for its strides in renewable energy and emission reduction initiatives. Cochin Shipyard Limited received the Shipyard Excellence Award for its achievements in advanced vessel construction and indigenous technology development. Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd was named Digital Transformation Leader for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency and transparency across operations.
In the individual category, Captain Anita Sharma was recognised with the Women in Maritime Leadership Award for her exemplary contribution to maritime training and workforce diversity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Sonowal lauded the awardees for “driving India’s maritime resurgence through innovation, resilience, and sustainability.” He added that these achievements reflect the government’s vision of transforming India into a global maritime powerhouse through modern infrastructure, clean energy, and skill development.
From pioneering renewable integration at ports to developing next-generation shipbuilding technologies, the awardees exemplify India’s evolving maritime capabilities and its growing leadership in the blue economy.
