Maruti Suzuki exports 1,600 ‘Made in India’ Fronx SUVs to Japan
NEW DELHI : Maruti Suzuki India has achieved a significant milestone by exporting over 1,600 units of its newly launched sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Fronx, to Japan. This marks the first time an Indian-made SUV has been exported to the Japanese market, highlighting the growing global presence of ‘Brand India.’
Shri Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the occasion that, “A truly proud moment as a consignment of over 1600 ‘Made In India’ SUVs from Maruti_Corp is exported for the first time to Japan. Modi Government has implemented several policies to boost Indian manufacturing industry over the last decade. With an emphasis on producing world-class quality products locally, it has helped ‘Brand India’ become a name to reckon with globally “.
The inaugural shipment, comprising over 1,600 Fronx SUVs, set sail from Pipavav Port in Gujarat on August 13. This is Maruti Suzuki’s second major export to Japan, following the successful export of the Baleno hatchback in 2016.
The Fronx, exclusively manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat facility, is expected to hit Japanese roads later this year under the Suzuki Motor Corporation’s banner.
