Ministry of External Affairs advises Indians to not travel to Iran or Israel till further notice
NEW DELHI : The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday issued a travel advisory for Iran and Israel, wherein it asked Indians to avoid travelling to these places till further notice.
It asked all those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel to get in touch with Indian embassies there and register themselves.
Urging all Indians in both the middle-eastern nations to observe utmost precautions, the ministry said, “Restrict movements to the minimum”.
The advisory comes in view of the escalating tensions between the two countries following a strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1. There have been fears that Tehran may launch a retaliatory attack on Israel soon.
Seven of Iran’s military advisers, including three senior commanders, were killed in the strike that marked a major escalation in Israel’s war with its regional adversaries.
Israel has long targeted Iran’s military installations in Syria and those of its proxies, but attack earlier this month was the first time Israel hit the vast embassy compound itself.
