Modi Cabinet 3.0: Sarbananda Sonowal retains Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways
NEW DELHI : Soon after taking charge as the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways under the Modi 3.0 cabinet, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shri Sarbananda Sonowal asserted that he would perform his duties with dedication.
“We will do the work of taking this ministry forward under the leadership of PM Modi. We will perform our duties with dedication,” Sonowal told. The portfolios were announced on Monday in a press communique by the President’s Secretariat a day after the swearing-in of the council of ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The portfolios were allocated on the advice of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Shri Sonowal has been appointed as the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Earlier on Sunday, he was sworn in as a cabinet minister.
Shri Sarbananda Sonowal bagged Assam’s Dibrugarh seat for the second time, defeating Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP)’s Lurinjyoti Gogoi by a handsome margin of 2,79,321 votes. He was the minister of state (independent charge) of youth affairs and sports during the first term of Shri Narendra Modi’s government, from 2014 to 2016.
The distribution of portfolios was announced a day after the swearing-in of the NDA government. The alliance scored a hat-trick victory in Lok Sabha polls.
