MoPSW, DG Shipping, ICS and INSA discuss strengthening Global Maritime Collaboration at India Maritime Week 2025
MUMBAI: On the sidelines of India Maritime Week 2025, a high-level meeting was convened between Shri Vijay Kumar (IAS), Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW); Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping; Mr. Thomas Kazakos, Secretary General, International Chamber of Shipping (ICS); and senior officials from the Indian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA).
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in global maritime governance and exploring INSA’s re-engagement with the ICS to strengthen India’s participation in international shipping policy frameworks.
Key areas of deliberation included decarbonisation, digitalisation, safety at sea, and seafarer welfare — aligning with global efforts to create a more sustainable, safe, and human-centric maritime ecosystem.
The meeting underscored India’s proactive role in shaping the future of global shipping, promoting responsible maritime practices, and reinforcing its position as a key stakeholder in the international maritime community.
