MSC announces Panama Canal Charges effective 1st Jan 2025

GENEVA : Effective 1 January 2025, the Panama Canal Authority will introduce modifications to its Transit Reservation System, including adjustments to charges, changes in the tariff structure, and the implementation of new tariffs.

In a Trade Advisory MSC notified Customers that “To address the increased costs associated with these changes and maintain commitment to providing reliable and efficient services, MSC will introduce a Panama Canal Surcharge (PCS)“

Details of the PCS Surcharge:

• Effective Date: 1 January 2025
• Trade Lanes Affected: Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan to US East Coast and Gulf
• Amount: USD 40 per TEU on all-cargo type
