Mumbai Port Chairman highlights salient features of Maritime India Summit 2021

The Ministry of Ports Shipping & Waterways is organising the Maritime India Summit 2021 (MIS 2021) on a virtual platform from March 2 to 4, 2021 to promote both international and domestic investment in the ports and maritime sector. The Prime Minister will be inaugurating the Summit on March 2. 

Mr Rajiv Jalota, IAS, Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust, informed that MIS 2021 will provide a unique platform where various stakeholders in the maritime sector, such as policy planners, senior government officials, domestic and international investors, sector experts, shipping line owners, representatives of major ports from across the world as well as the governments of maritime states in India, will participate. The Summit will also host forums for interaction and collaboration with Indian and international ports, shipping and maritime companies, investors, and other stakeholders. It will also include an exclusive CEOs’ Forum with the Minister of State (I/C) for Ports, Shipping & Waterways.

In addition, plenary, special and various thematic/breakout sessions are planned where international experts in the respective fields will participate. There are also sessions focusing on coastal states, among them being on ‘Investment Opportunities in Maharashtra’ on the opening day itself.

The objective of the Summit is to propel India to the forefront of the global maritime sector.
