Nitin Gadkari assures Rs 20,000 crore for highways & NHAI projects in Gujarat
GANDHINAGAR : Union Road Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari and Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel held a high-level review meeting with officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to assess the progress of road construction and maintenance across the state. During the meeting, Gadkari assured that the Centre will sanction Rs 20,000 crore for highways and other NHAI projects in Gujarat, an official statement said.
During the meeting, the Union Minister and Chief Minister emphasized the importance of high-quality road construction and timely completion of projects. Officials and contractors were strictly instructed to prioritize the convenience and safety of citizens, with a clear warning that any negligence in construction or resurfacing of National Highways would not be tolerated.
Union Minister Gadkari directed officials and contractors to complete all road works within the stipulated time frame and stressed the need for smooth road connectivity across the state. Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel highlighted that more than 35 percent of the load on Gujarat’s National Highways requires careful repair and maintenance and requested that expansion works be undertaken where necessary.
The Chief Minister also sought urgent completion of ongoing projects on major routes, including Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Rajkot-Gondal-Jetpur, and Ahmedabad-Udaipur, to ensure efficient traffic movement.
