NMPA to highlight Karnataka’s maritime capabilities at India Maritime Week from October 27
MANGALURU : The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), along with several port-led industries, is set to participate in India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, to be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, from October 27 to 31. The high-profile event is one of India’s most influential maritime platforms, attracting global leaders, innovators, policymakers, and investors to deliberate on the future of maritime trade, sustainability, and the Blue Economy.
Karnataka’s maritime potential in focus
The NMPA delegation will be joined by representatives from MRPL, HPCL, NTCPWC, NITK, and other industry stakeholders. As the platinum sponsor for IMW 2025, NMPA aims to highlight Karnataka’s maritime infrastructure, port-led industrialisation, digital transformation initiatives, and sustainable development models.
The five-day conference will feature thematic sessions, CEO roundtables, policy dialogues, and technology showcases, creating opportunities for collaboration and investment. According to officials, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately Rs 53,000 crore are expected to be signed during the event, marking a significant milestone for the state’s maritime and logistics ecosystem.
Focus on sustainable Blue Economy and PPP models
NMPA Chairman A. V. Ramana will represent the port at the Karnataka State Session, titled “Exploring PPP Synergies for a Sustainable Blue Economy”. The dialogue will focus on the role of public-private partnerships (PPP) in advancing coastal infrastructure, fisheries, marine innovation, and sustainable port growth.
Ramana will also participate as a speaker at the Maritime Digitalisation & Future Tech Summit’s Global CEO Roundtable on October 30, which will deliberate on key maritime issues such as:
Investment priorities and regulatory enablers
Growth of coastal shipping and inland waterways
Expansion of shipbuilding and repair capacity
Cruise tourism and maritime services
Skilling and port-led industrialisation
He is also scheduled to moderate the GMIS session on the cruise and passenger economy, titled “Sailing into Prosperity: Navigating Opportunities in Cruise and Passenger Mobility”.

India Maritime Week 2025 is aligned with the government’s long-term vision of developing a world-class maritime infrastructure network, supporting the Sagarmala initiative, and accelerating the Digital India transformation within the maritime sector.
