Piyush Goyal chairs high-level brainstorming session to strengthen India’s Export Competitiveness and Global Trade Outreach

NEW DELHI : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal chaired a high-level brainstorming session with senior officials of the Department of Commerce and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), focusing on accelerating India’s export growth, attracting greater investments, and enhancing the country’s presence in global markets.

The meeting deliberated on a range of strategic initiatives aimed at empowering aspiring exporters, supporting MSMEs and emerging enterprises, and enabling industries across sectors to access new international trade opportunities. Discussions also emphasized the importance of improving ease of doing business, streamlining trade facilitation measures, and strengthening India’s position as a reliable global manufacturing and supply chain hub.

Key areas of focus included expanding market access for Indian products, identifying high-potential export destinations, and leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to drive greater international trade engagement. The session also explored strategies to enhance export promotion activities through greater industry participation, international exhibitions, trade delegations, and targeted outreach programmes.

The Minister stressed the need for closer coordination between industry stakeholders and government departments to ensure policy support aligns with evolving global trade dynamics. Special emphasis was placed on promoting innovation-driven sectors, boosting value-added manufacturing, and encouraging startups and first-time exporters to participate in global commerce.

Officials further reviewed measures to improve global visibility for Indian businesses and strengthen institutional support systems that can help enterprises scale internationally. Discussions also covered initiatives to attract foreign investments, build resilient supply chains, and reinforce India’s ambition of becoming a leading global economic powerhouse.

The brainstorming session reflects the Government’s continued commitment to enhancing India’s export ecosystem, fostering industrial growth, and creating new opportunities for businesses across the country under the vision of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
