Piyush Goyal to chair Board of Trade Meeting today to discuss export growth and capitalise on recent trade deals
NEW DELHI : India’s export strategy will come under the spotlight next week as the Board of Trade (BoT), chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, is set to meet on 3 July to discuss ways to accelerate outbound shipments and maximise the benefits of recently concluded free trade agreements (FTAs).
The meeting will bring together representatives from state governments, Union Territories, export promotion councils, industry bodies and senior public and private sector officials to deliberate on measures aimed at strengthening India’s trade competitiveness.
It will be the Board’s first meeting since November 25, 2025. The recently signed trade agreement with the United Kingdom is scheduled to come into force on July 15, while negotiations with the European Union are progressing, with the pact expected to be signed later this year.
The government is also targeting merchandise exports of USD 1 trillion in 2026-27, up from USD 863 billion recorded in the previous financial year.
