R. Lakshmanan, IAS, Joint Secretary, MoPSW joins JNPA for MAITRI Seminar

NAVI MUMBAI : In a major step toward enhancing digital transformation and interoperability in cross-border logistics, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), in collaboration with RITES, recently hosted a focused workshop on MAITRI – Master Application for International Trade & Regulatory Interface.

The workshop, led by senior Customs and Port officials, highlighted the seamless integration of EXIM (export-import) procedures under the MAITRI framework. Designed to foster a unified digital ecosystem, MAITRI aims to streamline regulatory processes, improve maritime safety, and enable efficient exchange of cross-border logistics data.

The event was marked by the gracious presence of Shri R. Lakshmanan, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), who was welcomed by JNPA leadership. Addressing the gathering, Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairperson, JNPA and CMD, Vadhavan Port Project Ltd. (VPPL), shared key updates on JNPA’s digital and infrastructure advancements.

He emphasized the port’s commitment to driving efficiency through innovation and inter-agency collaboration, underlining how initiatives like MAITRI are instrumental in creating future-ready, tech-enabled ports.

The seminar also served as a platform for engaging dialogue among industry stakeholders, with senior representatives from various major ports participating in discussions on the evolving digital landscape and the technological trends shaping India’s maritime future.

By facilitating unified logistics solutions and regulatory harmonization, the MAITRI initiative is poised to be a game-changer for India’s Export-Import trade and port sector.
