Railways plans 924-km coastal railway line in Gujarat, sanctions ₹23 crore for surveys
BHAVNAGAR : With the coastal corridor project already underway, the Minister of Railways is now planning to build a new railway line along the coastline of Gujarat. The Ministry of Railways recently sanctioned ₹52.16 crore for conducting Final Location Surveys (FLS) and preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for ten major railway projects in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Among these projects, the railway has sanctioned ₹23 crore for surveying the final location of a 924-km coastal railway line.
These proposed coastal railway lines will be built in three parts, the first being the Dahej-Jambusar-Kathana-Khambhat-Dholera-Bhavnagar line, followed by the Bhavnagar-Mahuva-Pipavav line, and finally the Pipavav-Chhara-Somnath-Sardiya-Porbandar-Dwarka-Okha line.
Other projects whose Final Location Survey has been sanctioned include four doubling projects, four quadrupling projects, and one new line project—a 40 km sea link between Dahej and Bhavnagar.
