Sailing towards a Brighter Future: Gujarat’s Vision 2047 unveiled
GANDHINAGAR : Shri Bhupendra Patel, Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, alongside Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Honorable Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, India, unveiled the “Vision 2047” of the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at a Seminar on ‘Port-Led City Development’, a significant and forward-thinking event being organized by Gujarat Maritime Board under the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.
“Vision 2047”, the visionary document, resonating with India’s Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and Maritime India Vision 2030, marks a transformative step in enhancing Gujarat’s maritime sector, building on the progress since GMB’s establishment in 1982 and the pivotal 1995 PPP port policy. The Vision 2047 document for the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) outlines a strategic roadmap with goals segmented into short-term, mid-term, and long-term objectives:
Short-Term Goals: These include immediate organizational restructuring of GMB, modernization and mechanization of ports, green initiatives, and initial steps in digital transformation and maritime education.
Mid-Term Goals: Focus shifts to expanding infrastructure, such as developing large ports and advancing greenfield port projects. This period also emphasizes full-scale technological integration and strengthening of maritime education.
Long-Term Goals: The final phase aims to realize the vision for 2047, with goals like achieving ultra-mega port status, establishing Gujarat as a leader in digital maritime operations, and completing ecological conservation projects.
This visionary plan aligns with India’s Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and the Maritime India Vision 2030, responding adeptly to the evolving global maritime landscape. GMB’s vision also aligns with the global sustainable maritime practices directive. Spanning 24 years with 24 goals and 120 milestones, the vision document outlines the following 11 key areas:
