Sarbananda Sonowal flags off CNG Road Sweeping Machines at V.O. Chidambaranar Port

TUTICORIN : In a significant step towards strengthening sustainable port operations and promoting green infrastructure, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, flagged off two state-of-the-art CNG-operated self-propelled road sweeping machines at V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority.

The induction of these advanced, environment-friendly machines marks a major milestone in enhancing mechanised cleaning operations within the Port premises. Designed for high-efficiency sweeping, dust suppression, and debris collection, the CNG-powered machines will significantly improve cleanliness standards while reducing carbon emissions compared to conventional diesel-operated equipment.

The deployment of CNG-based sweeping technology aligns with the Government of India’s broader vision for green ports and sustainable maritime infrastructure.
