Sarbananda Sonowal launches Ship Recycling Credit Note Module at JNPA’s 37th Anniversary Celebrations
MUMBAI : Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, formally launched the ‘Ship Recycling Credit Note Module‘, a flagship digital initiative of the Directorate General of Shipping, during the 37th Anniversary celebrations of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).

The newly introduced module marks a significant step in the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen ease of doing business within the maritime sector.
Developed by the Directorate General of Shipping, the Ship Recycling Credit Note Module is designed to streamline and digitize the financial and transactional processes associated with ship recycling activities. The technology-driven platform aims to create a secure, standardized, and efficient framework for stakeholders engaged in the ship recycling ecosystem.
The initiative is expected to enhance transparency, operational efficiency, and stakeholder convenience by simplifying workflows and enabling seamless digital transactions. By modernizing critical regulatory and administrative processes, the module will contribute towards building a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable maritime ecosystem in India.
The launch reflects the Government of India’s strong commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening maritime governance, and leveraging digital solutions to improve regulatory mechanisms across the shipping and ports sector.

Shri Sonowal formally launched the Medical Practitioner Module of eSamudra, a flagship digital initiative of the Directorate General of Shipping, during the 37th Anniversary celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital governance and enhance service delivery within the maritime sector, the Directorate General of Shipping has introduced the Medical Practitioner Module to streamline and digitize the registration process for medical professionals serving the maritime community. The initiative is designed to improve transparency, operational efficiency, and ease of access through a secure and standardized digital platform. By simplifying registration procedures and enabling seamless online processing, the module supports a more responsive and technology-driven maritime healthcare ecosystem. This launch reflects the Government of India’s continued commitment to modernizing maritime administration and delivering stakeholder-centric digital services.
