Sarbananda Sonowal meets National Shipping Board members

NEW DELHI : The members of the National Shipping Board (NSB) interacted with the Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of MoPSW, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, on 20.08.2025, at the Ministry of PSW, Transport Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting was deliberate on shaping the future of Coastal Shipping & Inland Waterways Transport. “Led by the vision of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modiji, we are committed to further strengthening India’s maritime growth story“, Shri Sonowal said.

The meeting discussed various issues from NSB members on the following themes.

1. Increasing Indian Tonnage
2. Promoting Coastal Shipping & Inland Waterways
3. Developing World-Class Facilities for Seafarers at Ports
4. Strengthening Professional Maritime Services.

The principles of the meeting were to visualise the key maritime priorities in our country now and also deliberated on matters to be taken up with other Ministries and Departments.
