Saudi Global Ports celebrates 10 million TEUs milestone
RIYADH : Saudi Global Ports (SGP), a member of the PSA Group, recently crossed its 10 millionth TEU milestone in May since the start of its commercial operations in 2015. To commemorate this milestone, SGP welcomed the President of Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and other government stakeholders for a celebration at the iconic Marine Tower at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam (Dammam Seaport).
Regional CEO Europe & Mediterranean, and Middle East and South Asia Vincent Ng, said: “SGP’s success today is a testament to the support from all port stakeholders, including Mawani and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and our customers. We are grateful to our staff for their hard work and dedication, enabling SGP to overcome various challenges and to scale new heights over the years.
“PSA International is proud to be SGP’s technical partner in their journey alongside the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic growth plans, aligning their strategy to develop King Abdulaziz Port into a key hub facilitating resilient, efficient and sustainable supply chains connecting the Kingdom and the region to the world through PSA’s global network of deep sea and inland ports.”
SGP has grown its presence in Saudi Arabia from operating a single terminal at Dammam Seaport in 2015, to becoming the sole operator of both container terminals in 2020. SGP took on operations of the Riyadh Dry Port Ecosystem (Riyadh Dry Port, and Riyadh and Dammam Empty Container Yards) in 2022, helping shipping lines and cargo owners to connect their containers from Dammam Seaport to key inland locations, including Saudi Arabia’s capital city and economic centre, Riyadh. In October 2023, SGP and Mawani also announced their collaboration to develop a 1 million sqm Dammam Integrated Logistics Zone, an initiative that would further position Dammam as a comprehensive and competitive logistics node in the region.
