‘Sea giant’ carrying 400,000 tonnes of iron ore docks at Caofeidian Port
TANGSHAN : The Yuan Jian Hai, loaded with 400,000 tonnes of Brazilian iron ore, docked at Berth 5 of the Phase III ore terminal at Caofeidian Port.
The massive vessel measures about 360 meters in length and 65 meters in width, with a deck area equivalent to three standard football fields. Fully loaded, its draft exceeds 23 meters, while its cargo capacity would equal roughly 6,666 railway wagons carrying 60 tonnes each.
This marked the Caofeidian Port Area’s ability to accommodate 400,000-tonne ultra-large ore vessels sailing and docking directly at full load.
