KOLKATA : Sectoral Workshop on Logistics and Supply Chain organized by Department of Technical Education and Skills Development, Government of West Bengal, on 16th Dec 23 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata.
Being a part of the sectoral workshops on supply chain and logistics that the West Bengal government’s Department of Technical Education, Training, and Skill Development arranged was a delight. Leading authorities in the domains of ports, shipping, roads, rail, Kolkata metro rail, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and industry, academia, associations, and business leaders from the Indian and Multinational companies participated in the workshops and generated ideas on the following five crucial sectors of the industry for the industry’s skill-building and development:
Port, Dry Dock, ICD and CFS Rail, road, Multimodal transportation, Freight Corridor
Cold Chain, Warehousing, Drone logistics, Supply Chain, Logistics Parks
E-Commerce & Digitization of Logistics
Skill Requirements across Levels

Chief Secretary of the West Bengal Government, IAS Dr. Hari Krishna Dwidei, Principal Secretary of the Department of Technical Education, Training, and Skill Development, West Bengal Government, IAS  Shri Anup Aggarwal, Dy  Chairman of the Kolkata Port Trust, I.R.S., Shri Samrat Rahi, Chairman of the Shipping and Logistics Committee the Bengal Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and other industry participants brainstormed to identify the skills needed to establish Bengal as a global hub for logistics sector. The industry responded favorably to the government of West Bengal’s initiative to successfully implement the state logistics policy’s goal, particularly in terms of developing a skilled workforce for sector-specific skilling initiatives and creating a roadmap to ensure the success of skill development and employment generation for the sector.
