
Strengthening India–Denmark Centre of Excellence for Green Shipping Strategic Partnership
MUMBAI : The Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, hosted a high-level delegation from Denmark to advance cooperation on maritime digitalisation and green shipping.
The Danish delegation comprised of Ms. Josefine Pallensen, Counsellor (Maritime), Royal Embassy of Denmark in India, Mr. Jakob Visti Eriksen, Special Adviser, Danish Maritime Authority,, Mr. Jan Froelgaard, Manning Advisor, Danish Maritime Authority and Mr. Ronny Marstrand Hansen, Project Manager, Danish Maritime Authority
The two-day engagement included:
1. Site visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) – with discussions on Port State Control practices and integration of digital certificates.
2. Maritime Digital Transformation Workshop at DGS Headquarters, Mumbai – chaired by Shri Sushil Mansing Khopde, IPS, Additional Director General of Shipping, where deliberations focused on:
•Development of digital seafarer certification standards
•Reducing administrative burdens & preventing fraud
•Enhancing safety, efficiency, and sustainability
•Cooperation on recognition & enforcement of alternative design approvals
•Pathways for influencing IMO frameworks
This collaboration reinforces the India–Denmark Centre of Excellence for Green Shipping Strategic Partnership, driving innovation and sustainability in the global maritime sector.
