Thar Dry Port flags off the first Reefer Rake from its Rail terminal at Sanand to Pipavav Port in collaboration with Maersk Shipping Line
SANAND : Thar Dry Port Sanand (A unit of Hasti Petro chemical & Shipping Limited) launched its Reefer Rake in collaboration with Maersk Line from ICD Sanand, near Ahmedabad, to Pipavav Port.
The weekly service from ICD Sanand can carry up to 43 Forty Feet containers in single stack formation per rake. A minimum of one such service per week and will be increased to 2 services per week shortly.
The inaugural service was flagged off by Divisional Railway Manager –Ahmedabad by Shri Ved Prakash on 17th November, 2025 from its rail terminal at Sanand to Pipavav Port
The Reefer Rake was supported by state of the art power packs to maintain precise temperature control throughout the entire journey with dedicated technicians accompanying every rake and the back up support of ground teams to monitor conditions in real time.
Mr. Ruchir Parekh –Managing Director HPCSL said that this new venture –Reefer rail service started for Pipavav and to be extended to Mundra port as well will provide the industry a reliable alternative to Road transport and also help reduce carbon emissions.
On the same day Shri Shravan Ram -Additional Commissioner (Customs) Ahmedabad inaugurated the HPCSL’s Reefer Container Yard.
The inauguration of the yard and flag off of the first Rake was also attended by senior Maersk shipping line officers from various offices in Gujarat and Delhi and also demonstrates how rail sea integration can help to provide much needed cold chain Logisitcs infrastructure for exporters in Gujarat.
This initiative confirms HPCSL’s commitment to delivering efficient and reliable cold-chain logistics across Western India.
