Turkon Line boosts Türkiye-India trade with new shipping routes
ISTANBUL : Turkon Line, a prominent Turkish Container Shipping Company, is enhancing trade connections between Türkiye and India by launching new maritime routes to South Asia.
Alkin Kalkavan, CEO of Turkon Line, detailed the company’s expansion, noting the addition of two multifuel vessels built in Türkiye, set to bolster their fleet’s capacity by over 50% this year. This expansion aims to diversify Turkon Line’s operational reach, which currently spans the United States, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
Scheduled to commence in February, the new Indian service marks a strategic move in Turkon Line’s eastward expansion. Starting with four vessels and increasing to five by June, the service promises weekly continuity and is poised to significantly enhance logistical connections.
The “Türkiye Red Sea India (TRI)” route will connect critical ports across Türkiye, the Red Sea, and India, including Ambarli, Evyap, Aliaga, Mersin, Aqaba, Jeddah, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Alexandria. This route is designed to offer the fastest service to India, navigating through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea.
Additionally, the TRI route will feature integrated railway connections from Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports to major inland trade hubs across India, such as Dadri, Delhi, Garhi, Sonipat, Ludhiana, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. This integration facilitates seamless transitions from sea to rail, optimizing logistics solutions across extended markets.
This development is set to link Indian ports more closely with markets in the United States, Northern Europe, and the Mediterranean, thereby broadening Turkon Line’s global footprint and enhancing its role in international trade.
