Two Senior IRS Officers promoted to top roles in Customs & Indirect Taxes
NEW DELHI” The government has announced the promotion and empanelment of two senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to higher positions in the department.
Ram Niwas, an IRS officer from the 1990 batch, currently serving as Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai Zone, has been promoted to the post of Principal Chief Commissioner/Principal Director General of Customs & Indirect Taxes.
This is a Level 17 Apex Scale position in the Pay Matrix, signifying one of the highest ranks within the service. Similarly, Pranesh Pathak, a 1992-batch IRS officer currently stationed at the Customs, Ahmedabad Zone, has been promoted to the grade of Chief Commissioner/Director General of Customs & Indirect Taxes. His new role is at Level 16 of the Pay Matrix, marking a significant career milestone.
