V.O.C Port signs agreement with CEL for Anti-Drone System implementation
TUTICORIN : V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has signed an agreement with Central Electronics Limited (CEL) for the implementation of an advanced Anti-Drone System, marking a significant step towards strengthening port security and enhancing surveillance capabilities across the port premises.
The agreement was formally signed by Mr. A. Ganesan, Chief Mechanical Engineer, on behalf of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, and Mr. Anurag Agarwal, Additional General Manager & Head of Department, on behalf of Central Electronics Limited. The signing ceremony was held in the august presence of Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, and Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, along with senior officials of the Port Authority.
The Anti-Drone System will enable real-time detection, identification, tracking, and neutralisation of unauthorised drones within the port’s airspace. The system is designed to address emerging security threats and enhance situational awareness, thereby ensuring the safety of port operations, personnel, cargo, and critical maritime assets.
This deployment aligns with the Port’s broader strategy of leveraging cutting-edge technologies to secure vital infrastructure, comply with national security protocols, and strengthen resilience against evolving security challenges. The initiative also reflects the Port’s proactive approach towards integrating indigenous and advanced solutions for infrastructure protection.
Speaking on the occasion, port officials highlighted that the implementation of the Anti-Drone System will significantly augment existing security measures and contribute to maintaining a safe and secure operational environment at one of India’s key maritime gateways.
The agreement reaffirms V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority’s commitment to modernising security infrastructure and adopting best-in-class technological solutions in line with the Government of India’s vision for secure, smart, and future-ready ports.
