VOC Port Authority receives ‘Green Visionary’ Award at India Maritime Week 2025
MUMBAI: V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Green Visionary’ Award at the awards ceremony held during India Maritime Week 2025, recognising its exemplary efforts in advancing environmental sustainability across India’s port sector.
The award highlights VOCPA’s pioneering initiatives in decarbonisation and its proactive measures to accelerate sustainability-driven growth. The port has consistently demonstrated leadership in implementing green practices, renewable energy adoption, and eco-efficient operations, setting a benchmark for other Indian ports.
The honour was received by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, Chairman, VOCPA, and Shri Rajesh Soundrarajan, Deputy Chairman, VOCPA, from Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, in the august presence of Union Minister of State, Shri Shantanu Thakur, and Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Vijay Kumar (IAS).
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, the port authority reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable port management. “VOC Port remains steadfast in its resolve to foster a greener maritime future,” the statement noted.
The accolade underscores the growing emphasis on green transition and innovation within India’s maritime sector as the nation advances toward its net-zero and blue economy goals.
