TUTICORIN : V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port has set remarkable benchmarks in cargo handling performance for the fiscal year 2025–26, solidifying its stature as a key player in India’s maritime infrastructure and trade facilitation landscape.

The port has successfully crossed the 10 million tonne mark in cargo handling for the current financial year, marking an overall growth of 1.55% compared to the previous year. Container cargo throughput also recorded a healthy increase of 5.24%, underlining the port’s growing significance in containerized trade movement. This milestone aligns with the national vision of infrastructure-led growth under the Government of India’s Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

Further underlining its operational excellence, VOC Port achieved its highest-ever single day cargo handling record on June 26, 2025, managing a staggering 2,05,500 tonnes of cargo in just 24 hours. This feat surpassed its previous record of 2,04,650 tonnes set on February 23, 2025.

The record-breaking performance was enabled by the seamless handling of diverse cargoes including Coal, Urea, Limestone, LPG, Machinery, and Windmill Blades, showcasing the port’s capability to manage both bulk and specialized cargo with agility.

Port authorities credited the achievement to the port’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, efficient logistics systems, and the collaborative efforts of stakeholders including terminal operators, shipping lines, logistics providers, and workforce teams.

These back-to-back accomplishments reflect VOC Port’s unwavering commitment to supporting India’s growing trade ecosystem, enhancing supply chain resilience, and driving sustainable economic development through maritime logistics.
