Women’s Day 2026: Allcargo Group highlights Growing Role of Women in Logistics
MUMBAI: Ahead of International Women’s Day, leadership at Allcargo Group has highlighted the growing participation of women in India’s logistics sector, noting that technology, automation and evolving workplace policies are helping make the traditionally male-dominated industry more inclusive.
Sharing her views on the occasion, Ms. Indrani Chatterjee, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Allcargo Group, emphasised that advancements in logistics infrastructure and digital transformation are opening new opportunities for women across various roles in the sector.
She said:
“India’s logistics industry is experiencing a transformation that is making this traditionally male-dominated sector structurally more inclusive at its core. As technology, automation and smart infrastructure reshape the backbone of warehousing and last-mile delivery, they are also helping lower barriers that earlier limited women’s participation. This has resulted to a gradual increase in women’s participation across a wider range of functions, reflecting evolving roles within the sector.
At Allcargo Group, our overall gender representation is 49% women globally, supported by initiatives such as all-women shifts, return-to-work programmes and targeted talent acquisition that prioritises inclusivity without compromising on capability. We have strengthened workplace infrastructure with safe transport, secure amenities, POSH compliance and flexible shift structures. These reforms create an ecosystem where women can enter, sustain and grow within the workforce.
The industry must continue to innovate HR strategies, strengthen safety protocols and build ecosystems that welcome women from urban centres to rural talent pools. For us, the goal is clear: build a logistics workforce that reflects the communities it serves, while strengthening efficiency, resilience and long-term growth.”
