World’s largest cargo ship ‘MSC Loreto’, capable of holding 24,300 containers, docks in Port of Felixstowe

SUFFOLK : The world’s joint-largest cargo ship has docked at Britain’s biggest and busiest container port, MSC Loreto arrived at the Port of Felixstowe here, from Le Havre in France on 30 April.

Measuring 1,300ft, the MSC Loreto vessel is capable of holding 24,346 standard containers, which is currently the record number.

It shares this title with its sister vessel, the MSC Irina.

The vessel, which is operated by the Swiss-headquartered Mediterranean Shipping Company, was due to set sail for the Algerian capital of Algiers on the country’s Mediterranean coast.
