JNPT handles 4.47 Million TEUs during CY 2020 despite pandemic disruption
NAVI MUMBAI: The year 2020 will be marked by several disruptions in the Global Supply Chain & Trade largely owing the current Covid 19 Pandemic. Global Ports were at the receiving end of this Global Supply Chain disruption while only a few chosen one came out of it minimizing the aftereffects of this disruption aided by astute leadership of people helming the Port Authority.
JNPT was no exception to this, and under the dynamic leadership of Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman & Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Deputy Chairman, the port clocked around 4.47 million TEUs during the CY 2020 as against handling around 5.1 million TEUs during the CY 2019.
JNPT has five Container Terminals, among them, APM Terminals Mumbai (GTI) handled 1.69 million TEUs, DP World NSIGT with 0.77 million TEUs, DP World NSICT with 0.64 million TEUs and the Port owned JNPCT with 0.56 million TEUs. The Newly developed BMCT handled around 0.81 million TEUs during the CY 2020.
Overall during the CY 2020, the Port handled 62.32 million tonnes cargo including Liquid and other cargo, according to reliable sources.
