
Gopalakrishna Patnaik elected as vice-president of Indian Port and Dock Workers’ Union
NEW DELHI : KA.S.V. Gopalakrishna Patnaik was elected as the vice-president of the Indian Port and Dock Workers’ Union (BMS). The new executive committee was formed during a meeting held recently in Paradip, Odisha.
The details of the newly elected committee were communicated to the Minister of Ports and Shipping, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. The new committee consists of 11 members, with Shrikant Rai and Suresh Kamalakar Patil serving as president and secretary, respectively. Gopalakrishna Patnaik was elected as one of the vice-presidents, according to a statement issued on Saturday.
Mr. Patnaik is a Goods Supervisor in the Railway Commercial Section of the Traffic Department at the Visakhapatnam Port. An MBA graduate, he also served as an international hockey umpire. Within the BMS, he served as an alternate member of the Bipartite Wage Negotiation Committee (BWNC) and at the national level of the Indian Port and Dock Workers’ Union.
