CMA CGM Orders 22 Containerships at CSSC
FRANCE : French container shipping group CMA CGM has announced a new order for 22 ships ranging in size and fuel type.
The order was places with China State Shipbuilding Corporation with deliveries planned between 2023 and 2024.
The order includes 6 LNG-powered containerships with a capacity of 13,000 TEUs, 6 LNG-powered containerships with a capacity of 15,000 TEUs, and 10 Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil-powered containerships with a capacity of 5,500 TEUs.
“This order aims at accommodating market growth,” CMA CGM said in a brief statement posted to its website.
CMA CGM reported a net profit of $1.75 billion for 2020 on the back of the COVID-19 economic recovery. The company operates a fleet of 566 vessels with capacity of about 3 million TEUs. It’s order book consists of 44 ships with combined TEU capacity of 555,000, according to Alphaliner.
