JNPA Chairman, Unmesh Wagh releases Poster of AITWA at Smart Drivers Award
MUMBAI : On June 18, the Smart Driver Award-3 distribution ceremony was held at the JNPA Auditorium, Nhava Sheva, Mumbai. This special event recognized and honored numerous drivers — including women drivers — for their exemplary conduct, safe driving practices, and contributions to the transport sector.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), who personally felicitated the awardees. The program was organized with the vision of reshaping public perception of the transport industry, promoting inclusivity, and encouraging more individuals, especially women, to consider driving as a respected and viable career.
In a significant highlight of the event, Mr. Wagh unveiled a new awareness poster by AITWA (All India Transporters Welfare Association). The poster appeals to clients and stakeholders to support drivers when delays occur at unloading sites — urging them to ensure access to basic facilities such as bathing areas, overnight accommodations, and affordable meals. The message is clear: drivers don’t just transport goods — they drive the nation’s economy and deserve dignity and respect.
The event saw participation from several distinguished guests and industry leaders, including AITWA National President Mr. Ashok Goyal, Minal Mehta, Rima Kothari, Dr. Mamta Singh, Harinder Pal Kaur, Ramesh Kumar, Salvin Dasraj, C.V. Kumar, Professor Raghuram, N. Sevasailam, Ramashankar Pandey, and others. The awardees were joined by their families, making the celebration even more memorable
