Piyush Goyal urges traders to promote Made-in-India goods, shun foreign products
NEW DELHI : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal on Monday called upon traders, retailers, and entrepreneurs across the country to give priority to Made-in-India goods and and reject foreign goods, reduce reliance on imported products.
Speaking at an industry interaction, the Minister stressed that the country’s economy would grow stronger only when domestic businesses and consumers wholeheartedly supported local manufacturing. He said, “When you buy Indian products, you are not just purchasing an item—you are supporting Indian workers, farmers, and MSMEs.”
Goyal also appealed to traders to display Indian products prominently in shops and encourage customers to opt for them over foreign alternatives. He underlined that the government has already introduced several measures such as Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, export promotion initiatives, and ease of doing business reforms to boost domestic manufacturing.
The Minister further urged industry associations and market leaders to create awareness campaigns promoting Indian products, especially during the upcoming festive season, when consumer spending is at its peak.
According to officials, the government aims to not only reduce the import bill but also position India as a global manufacturing hub. “Atmanirbhar Bharat is not just a slogan—it is a collective movement,” Goyal added.
