First Maritime Hackathon, MAR-a-THON 2025, inaugurated at IIT-Madras Research Park

CHENNAI : India’s first Maritime Hackathon, MAR-a-THON 2025, was inaugurated at IIT-Madras Research Park, Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The event brings together innovators to develop modern tech-driven solutions for maritime operations.

Shri R Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary (Ports, PPP and Sagarmala) of MoPSW, joining through video conferencing, highlighted how the ministry’s framework rests on the pillars of RISE (Research, Innovation, Start-Up & Entrepreneurship) and aligns with the S2I2 ecosystem in transforming laboratory concepts into practical real-life solutions.

Also present on the occasion were Shri Sunil Paliwal and Shri S. Viswanathan, Chairman & Deputy Chairman of Chennai Port Authority. The event was also graced by Dr V Kamakoti, Director of
IIT Madras and faculty members of the premier institute, amongst other esteemed dignitaries
