BIMCO India Forum to Convene Shipping Leaders in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: BIMCO will host the BIMCO India Forum, an exclusive high-level roundtable, in Ahmedabad today at the Grand Mercure Ahmedabad GIFT City, coinciding with the India visit of its CEO & Secretary General, David Loosley.

The forum will bring together key maritime stakeholders—including shipowners, operators, managers, brokers, agents, and recyclers—for focused discussions on critical industry developments. A major highlight of the session will be responsible ship recycling, with emphasis on India’s growing role and the implementation of the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships.

Participants will also deliberate on global regulatory frameworks shaped by the International Maritime Organization and the Basel Convention, alongside BIMCO’s initiatives such as its Ship Recycling Alliance and industry engagement efforts.

The session will further cover BIMCO’s standard contracts, clauses, training, advisory services, and membership offerings, reinforcing its role in supporting the global shipping community.

The forum will be addressed by David Loosley and hosted by Mr. Ashok Srinivasan, Regional Manager & Technical Advisor (South Asia), followed by an interactive Q&A session and networking over refreshments.

The BIMCO India Forum underscores the organisation’s continued commitment to engaging with India’s maritime sector and advancing sustainable, compliant, and globally aligned shipping practices.
