DPA Kandla and KSKV Kachchh University sign MoU to promote research, innovation and skill development in Kutch

GANDHIDHAM : Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University in the presence of the Federation of Kutch Industries Associations to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and fostering a knowledge-driven ecosystem in the region.

The MoU was formally signed by Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, DPA, and Mohan Patel, Vice-Chancellor of the University, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development in the Kutch region.

Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate on academic and industrial research initiatives, promote innovation-driven projects, facilitate industry-oriented training programs, and support the growth of startups through mentorship and incubation opportunities. A key highlight of the partnership is the proposed establishment of an Earth Science Incubation Centre, which will focus on research and innovation in areas such as geology, environmental sciences, climate studies, coastal ecosystems, disaster resilience, and sustainable resource management.

The collaboration is expected to create valuable opportunities for students, researchers, and young entrepreneurs by providing access to industry expertise, real-world projects, internships, and emerging technologies. It will also help bridge the gap between academia and industry while contributing to regional economic development and employment generation.

Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent and creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation, scientific research, and entrepreneurial growth. The initiative aligns with national priorities such as Skill India, Startup India, and the vision of developing a self-reliant and innovation-led economy.

The partnership reflects DPA’s continued commitment to community development and capacity building beyond port operations, while reinforcing Kutch’s emergence as a hub for education, research, industry collaboration, and sustainable development.

The MoU is expected to play a pivotal role in empowering the youth of Kutch, fostering cutting-edge research, and building a future-ready knowledge ecosystem that supports both regional and national growth aspirations.
