The award was presented by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, at the Rajbhasha Award Ceremony. The honour was received on behalf of JNPA by Mr. Ravish Kumar Singh, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson, JNPA, along with Mr. Vinay Bahadur Mall, Manager (Hindi Cell), who accepted the Rajbhasha Shield and the accompanying certificate.

The recognition reflects JNPA’s consistent efforts towards the progressive implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Government of India and its emphasis on increasing the use of Hindi across all levels of administration. At JNPA, Hindi is actively integrated into day-to-day official functioning, including administrative procedures, office correspondence, circulars, reports, meetings, training programmes, digital platforms, and public communication, ensuring that the language serves as an effective medium of governance rather than merely fulfilling statutory requirements.

Over the years, JNPA has undertaken several initiatives to encourage the wider use of Hindi among its officers and employees. These include the organisation of Hindi workshops, Rajbhasha training programmes, competitions during Hindi Pakhwada, awareness campaigns, and regular monitoring of the implementation of Official Language provisions. Such initiatives have fostered a culture of greater linguistic inclusivity and strengthened compliance with the Government’s Rajbhasha policy.

Receiving the First Rajbhasha Shield is a significant milestone that recognises the collective efforts of JNPA’s employees and the dedicated work of its Hindi Cell in promoting the use of Hindi while maintaining excellence in port administration. The achievement further reinforces JNPA’s commitment to efficient governance, effective communication, and the continued promotion of Rajbhasha as an integral part of its organisational culture.

As India’s leading container port, JNPA remains committed to excellence not only in port operations and logistics but also in advancing the Government of India’s vision of strengthening the use of Hindi in official work through sustained and meaningful implementation.
