GANDHINAGAR : Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) – IRCLASS Academy, marking another significant milestone in strengthening industry–academia collaboration in the maritime sector. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Provost, Gujarat Maritime University; Mr. Praveen M. Managing Director, Indian Register of Shipping; and Mr. Amit Bhatnagar, Head, IRCLASS Academy, Indian Register of Shipping.
The MoU aims to foster academic, scholarly and professional collaboration through joint programmes, initiatives, knowledge exchange and mutually beneficial activities. By bringing together GMU’s academic expertise in maritime education, law, policy and management with the extensive industry knowledge and professional expertise of IRS–IRCLASS Academy, the partnership will create valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building, research, professional development and greater interaction between academia and maritime professionals, contributing to the development of skilled and industry-ready maritime professionals.
The signing ceremony, held in the presence of representatives and officials from both institutions, reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a sustained and productive partnership. Through such strategic collaborations, Gujarat Maritime University continues to strengthen its engagement with leading maritime institutions and industry stakeholders, contributing to the advancement of maritime education, research and professional capacity in India
