V.O.C Port achieves historic milestone with berthing of longest-ever vessel

TUTICORIN : V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VoCPA) has achieved a significant operational milestone with the successful berthing of CMA CGM THORIUM at the Tuticorin International Container Terminal (TICT), marking the handling of the longest vessel ever berthed at the Port to date.

With an overall length of 335.23 metres, the CMA CGM THORIUM represents a major achievement for V.O. Chidambaranar Port and underscores its growing capability to accommodate and efficiently handle larger container vessels.

The milestone was commemorated through a special onboard function organised in the presence of Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairman, VoCPA; Shri Deep K. Reddy, Terminal Head, TICT; Shri Vijay, General Manager, CMA CGM; and Capt. Ai Junhui, Master of CMA CGM THORIUM.

The event featured a warm welcome and formal felicitation of the vessel’s Master, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the successful berthing. The occasion celebrated the coordinated efforts and close collaboration among the Port Authority, terminal operator, shipping line, vessel crew and other stakeholders involved in the operation.

The successful handling of CMA CGM THORIUM is a proud moment for V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority and reflects the Port’s continued progress in strengthening its infrastructure, operational efficiency and readiness to serve the evolving requirements of the global container shipping industry.
