PARADIP: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has recorded a significant improvement in the efficiency of rail-based bulk cargo handling, with the average number of rakes unloaded per day increasing by 14.82% year-on-year during the period up to August.
For thermal coal and iron ore/pellet cargo, Paradip Port handled an average 43.15 rakes per day up to August in FY 2026–27, compared with 37.58 rakes per day during the corresponding period of FY 2025–26.
The performance represents a 14.82% year-on-year increase in daily rake handling, pointing to faster unloading and improved rail-linked cargo evacuation at the port.
The higher throughput underscores Paradip Port Authority’s continuing focus on streamlining rake operations, reducing cargo-handling time and improving the efficiency of bulk cargo movement through its rail network.
The improvement was recorded across thermal coal and iron ore/pellet cargo, with average rake unloading rising from 37.58 rakes per day in FY 2025–26 to 43.15 rakes per day in FY 2026–27.
