Andhra Pradesh Govt chalks out plans to develop Ports

VISHAKHAPATNAM : The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board Chairman Mr. Kayala Venkata Reddy said that keeping in mind the industries’ requirements and cargo demand, Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has set special focus on the development of ports.

As part of it, an action plan was chalked out for the development of Manchilipatnam, Bhavanapadu, Kakinada SEZ, and Ramayampatnam ports, he said. Eight fishing harbours and four fish landing centres would be developed in a phased manner, he said.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, he said that proposals worth around Rs 1,221 crore were made for the construction of Nijampatnam and Machilipatnam phase 2, Uppada, and Juvvaladinne fishing harbours’ development. Likewise, development plans were made for the fishing harbour at Budagatlapalem in Srikakulam, Pudimadaka in Visakhapatnam district, Biyyaputippa in West Godavari and Vodarevu in Prakasam districts, he said.

The Maritime Board chairman said that the state earned Rs 285.80 crore through cargo transport from Kakinada port, Gangavaram Port, and Krishnapatnam ports.
