DG Shipping observes 15th edition of the Day of the Seafarer

MUMBAI : The National Maritime Day of Seafarers Central Committee and the Directorate General of Shipping, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), solemnly observed the 15th edition of the Day of the Seafarer on Wednesday, 25th June 2025.

The event was held on the powerful theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity”, and was further amplified by the nationwide campaign “My Harassment-Free Ship”, aimed at fostering dignity, safety, and zero tolerance for harassment at sea.

A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented as a mark of respect and gratitude to India’s seafarers, who continue to uphold the nation’s maritime legacy and global shipping leadership.

Vice Admiral Deepak Kumar Goswami, AVSM, Director General, Naval Project (DGNP), Mumbai, graciously attended the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was held in the august presence of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Shipping and Chairman of the NMDC Central Committee.
