DPA Kandla wins ‘Sagar Aankalan Award’ for ‘Excellence in Container Cargo Handling’

MUMBAI : Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Sagar Aankalan Award’ as the Best Performing Port under the category “Handling of Container Cargo – Less than 0.5 Million TEUs” for FY 2024–25.

The award was presented by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, during a ceremony held in Mumbai, recognizing outstanding performance and operational efficiency across India’s maritime sector.

On behalf of DPA, the award was received by Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Deputy Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority.

The recognition highlights DPA Kandla’s sustained commitment to operational excellence, efficient cargo handling, and continuous improvement in port performance. It reflects the port’s focused efforts towards enhancing productivity, optimizing logistics operations, and delivering reliable, customer-centric maritime services.

Despite operating in a competitive maritime landscape, DPA has demonstrated strong performance in container cargo handling through improved turnaround efficiency, streamlined operational practices, and effective infrastructure utilization. The achievement reinforces the port’s growing role in supporting India’s trade and logistics ecosystem.
