Essar donates an Oxygen Generator plant at Jamjodhpur

• Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani, virtually inaugurated the oxygen generator plant donated by Essar
• The plant will strengthen medical facilities at Jamjodhpur
• Essar, during the second wave of COVID-19, had supported the Government of Gujarat by setting up a 100-bed Covid care centre at Devbhumi Dwarka 

Jamjodhpur, Gujarat : Essar said that they have donated an Oxygen Generator Plant at Jamjodhpur CHC through Essar Foundation, its CSR arm. With an aim to support the efforts of the Government of Gujarat to fight the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and be better prepared for a possible third wave, the plant will help strengthen the medical infrastructure of the area.

Shri Vijaybhai Rupani, the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, today virtually inaugurated the plant in the presence of Dr Saurabh Pardhi (IAS, Collector Jamnagar), Mr Mihir Patel (IAS, DDO Jamnagar), Mr Sant Khare (CEO Essar Bulk Terminal Salaya Ltd) and Mr Kanayalal Motla (Head, Corporate Relation, Essar).

Essar has a very close association with the people of Gujarat and has always been indebted to them for their undeterred support towards its growth over the past five decades. This oxygen plant will boost government’s efforts to be better prepared in case of the onset of a third wave, and will support timely supply of medical oxygen to the people of Jamjodhpur block.

The Oxygen plant is a 20NM3 per hour Oxygen generator with a buster compressor, and has a capacity of 333 liters per minute (LPM) which is enough to service over 24 beds simultaneously. The plant will absorb air from the atmosphere before converting it into medical-grade oxygen. Additionally, a compressor has been installed besides the plant for filling up medical-standard cylinders. It has the capacity to fill about 80 cylinders in 24 hours. Essar has sourced the components of the plant from various parts of the world, and the entire cost of the plant has been funded by the company under the ‘Essar Cares initiative’. The plant will be able to meet the needs of the people in case of an emergency and provide them with the necessary relief. Training of the hospital staff on the oxygen plant operations was conducted by the plant supplier’s engineer.

Last year, Essar Foundation had launched the ‘Essar Cares initiative’ to actively support India’s fight against Covid19. Under the initiative, over two million meals and 1.55 lakh medical supplies were provided to those in need across the country. Earlier this year, when the Nation was under the grip of the second wave of the virus, Essar, in collaboration with the Khambaliya Civil Hospital, had set up a 100-bed oxygen-equipped Covid Care Centre at Devbhumi Dwarka district (Gujarat). The facility played a key role in adding necessary medical infrastructure during a critical time and helped many patients recover from the virus. Essar Foundation shall continue to extended support to the people of the region through various initiatives and provide necessary relief.
