Samsara Group handles first of its kind STS Operation at Syama Prasad Mookherjee Port, Kolkata
KOLKATA : Samsara Group is pleased to be associated with the historic moment of handling first of its kind LPG cargo STS (Ship to Ship Transfer) operation at Sandheads on 15th -16th Oct 2021 account BPCL, where Samsara Shipping Pvt Ltd. carried out the duties, representing BPCL as Shipping Agent, according to a company release.
LPG Cargo STS (Ship to Ship Transfer) Operation commences at Sandheads (Syama Prasad Mookherjee Port) Kolkata for BPCL under Shipping Agency of Samsara Group.
In this unprecedented operation, Mother Vessel MT YUHSAN on account BPCL carrying 44,551 MT LPG Cargo discharged part cargo (23,051 MT) on daughter vessel MT Hamphire while carrying out STS operation at Sandheads destined to Haldia Port, highlighted the release.
With STS operation the draft of MT YUSHAN was reduced from 10.8 m to 8 m, so that the balance LPG cargo can be discharged directly at Haldia Port with permissible draft of 8 m.
The successful commencement of STS operation at Sandheads facilitates to bring in larger LPG cargo parcel to Haldia Port for BPCL, emphasised the release.
