Shanghai aims to be world’s top shipping, transportation center

SHANGHAI : The Shanghai 2024 North Bund Forum was held from Tuesday to Thursday, offering an international, high-end and professional platform for the exchange of views and insights. Over 150 representatives from leading global shipping and aviation enterprises and institutions took part in the event.

CHENG JIN Deputy Director-General of Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection said “Shanghai’s container throughput has ranked first in the world for 14 consecutive years. For international travelers, we implemented pilot immigration management convenience policies such as 144-hour visa-free transit and 15-day visa-free cruise groups, as well as ‘on-board convenient inspection’ on cruise ships to enable the ‘departure upon arrival’ for more than 1.5 million cruise passengers this year. We strive to match our services with the city’s needs as a modern and international transportation hub.”
