Visakhapatnam Port has celebrated 90th Formation Day, will develop Maritime Heritage Complex at port soon

VISAKHAPATNAM : Visakhapatnam Port has celebrated 90th formation day with invitees from trade, unions, retired officials and senior officials of the port at port guest house on 07-10-2023.

On this occasion Chairman, Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Visakhapatnam port Authority (VPA) has delivered key note address. During his deliberation, Chairperson has given many innovative ideas for the development of the port and for the citizens of Visakhapatnam.

Port is going to develop Maritime Heritage Complex in the port premises with the suggestions and ideas from all the stakeholders. The MHC will have access to the public i.e., citizens of the Visakhapatnam city with Digital Library, achieves cafeteria, good ambience for doing good research. The MHC will house all the 90 years of heritage items, photos and antique items depicting the port journey through these 90 years. The MHC also have Port Waterfront Area and walkway from newly developed Vizag International Cruise Terminal to the Temple on the Ross hill to view the ship movements and experience the port working by the public, announced Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairman of Visakhapatnam port Authority (VPA).

Chairperson informed that the port is having 135 MTPA capacity and it’s now concentrating on good evacuation and mechanization systems. The Port will be tying up Skill Development Council to upgrade the skills of the employees. Chairperson informed that the port has prepared Maritime India Vision 2030 and Vision 2047 which will be deliberated with the stakeholders and incorporate their suggestions.

All the speakers shared their good experiences and memories with the port, and appreciated the efforts of chairperson for the initiatives that are being in pipeline and they expressed their willingness to associate.
