Vedanta ends 12-year-long break in Iron Ore exports from Mangalore Port
MANGALURU : Ending a 12 year long lull in the iron ore export segment, the ore-laden vessel of Vedanta sailed from Mangalore Port (Karnataka) to China.
A senior official of Mangalore Port Trust said that the resumption of the exports between India and China through Mangalore port is a good sign for various mining leases and its dependents across Karnataka.
The officials of Vedanta were personally present when the vessel “Incredible Blue” with 55000 tonnes of ore sailed from the Port.
The development comes on the day when Karnataka celebrates its statehood day today.
A senior official said that the mining industry has contributed significantly to the state’s economy. The resumption of the exports will further give boost to the economy of the state.
He thanked Vedanta for their efforts in resuming this export.
